And the winner is …. Galway.

A huge congratulations and a well deserved win. There is so much to do and see in Galway city and the buzz you get walking through the city centre is amazing and gives you a real Irish welcome.

The other cities competing for the cultural capital of 2020 were, Limerick, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford which are all beautiful cities to visit.

Galway will now receive European and Government funding to host cultural events throughout the year which is great news for Galway.

It is estimated to be worth €170m to the winning city in terms of funding and tourism.
