Birr Castle and Gardens is located in Birr Co Offaly. If you love Irish history and beautiful gardens then add this to your to-do list.
The castle itself is still lived in and is a private residence (how amazing would that be) which means you cannot go in the castle or the private grounds. (you can still get some great snaps)
At Birr Castle and Gardens you will find some of the worlds oldest trees, venture on secluded river walks and relax at the beautiful waterfall.

You can bring your own lunch and have a picnic (when the sun is out) in many of the open fields.

The lake has a beautiful walking track around it and make sure you look out for the cute little boat house.

The kids have not been forgotten. They have a great outdoor play area for the kids which will keep them entertained for hours.
If you don’t want to bring your own lunch they have a great café at the entrance to the grounds. They serve great cakes, tea, coffee and some yummy sandwiches.
Entry is 9 euro for adults and definitely worth it. If you are looking for a day out with the family or you love taking photos then this is the place for you.
